This is an interesting piece to want to be critiqued. When I opened it up full size, I thought, "What will I say about this? I've never had to critique anything that looks like this before."
But then I read the artist's comments.
You know how some people leave them blank? I dislike that - some people go in to lengthy detail about the how's and why's.
You, you took a picture of some scissors and left a thoughtful, deep, somewhat meaningful &#039oem' in yours.
It left the subject matter up for interpretation, even if those words didn't MEAN anything in accordance to the photograph, or to you, or in general, it gave a wide opening to interpret the picture in another light, even if it is 'just a pair of scissors'.
Technically, this picture could be better - the focus could be a little less 'on' so it would be less grainy away from the focal point, but overall, since it's an interesting angle and subject matter, it doesn't show up too bad.
I like the colors, they are interesting. I don't know if you deliberately picked them for this shot, but if you did, kudos, and if you didn't, kudos anyway. I really like how you can tell these scissors are old and perhaps rusty - the dust on the focal point is visible, very - makes it more interesting.
I enjoy that there isn't any distraction in the background, making it so you're pretty much forced to look at the scissors. Since I had nothing else to look at, I realized that if you look closely, it doesn't just look like a face, it looks like a heart from the handles and down, if you include the negative space in the background.
Overall, this was a thrill to write a critique for, though I can offer no pointers as such, it was nice to see something I've never seen before, and for that, I must thank YOU
